FAQ (Helvetia A - Z) |
Arrival |
By public transport you can reach the Saas Valley even faster via the new NEAT tunnel. From Zurich and Basel it is 2 hours to Visp by train and then you change to the post bus which travels directly to Saas-Fee. There are half-hourly connections until 22.40 in the evening (Friday & Saturday until 23.42). Motorists from the north travel via Bern through the Lötschberg (car transport on train), from the east and south via the Furka and the Simplon. From Western Switzerland you can reach the Saas Valley via Montreux along the Rhone Valley to Visp. In summer, the Saas Valley can be reached via the most beautiful Alpine passes from the west and east and from the south via the Rhone Valley. The Saas Valley road is winter-safe, winter equipment (Snow tyres/snow chains) are recommended. |
Basic foodstuffs |
The experience of the years since the Corona pandemic has shown that guests do not want to use leftover basic foodstuffs from other guests, mainly due to hygiene reasons. Please note that we therefore do not provide basic foodstuffs such as oil / pepper / salt in the apartment. |
Bed & Bath linen |
Bedding, bath towels and kitchen towels are provided in the apartment. The beds are already made up prior to your arrival. On request we provide our guests with new kitchen towels and bath towels during their stay. If you stay longer than one week, you will automatically receive new towels on Saturday. |
Books / Magazines |
In every apartment there are books & magazines about our village and our region. |
Check-In / Check-Out |
Your apartment is ready for occupancy from 2:00 pm on the day of arrival. On the day of departure we kindly ask you to depart the apartment by 9:00 am at the latest. |
Drinking water quality |
The tap water in Saas-Fee is of excellent drinking water quality. |
Facilities for babies / children |
We are happy to provide our guests with a cot and high chair free of charge on request (please state that you require these items when making your reservation). |
Gifts |
We are delighted that you are spending your holiday with us at Helvetia Apartments! As a small token of our appreciation, you will find a bottle of Valais wine in your apartment on arrival. In addition our house guests receive further gifts when they depart. |
Grocery shops |
The main shopping street with its various shops (Coop & Migros supermarkets), restaurants, bakeries, tea-rooms and cash dispensers is in the immediate vicinity. |
Kitchen |
Our kitchens are all fully equipped with: Granite kitchen counters, dishwasher, Delizio capsule coffee machine, microwave, kettle, oven, hob with 4 plates, fridge with freezer compartment and a fondue pot.. Filter coffee machine and raclette table grill are available from the landlord on request. |
Location |
Our house is situated in a central and quiet location of Saas-Fee, in the village hamlet "Undri Gassu". All tourist facilities such as cable cars and ski lifts, sports ground, Aqua Allalin (swimming pool and wellness spa) and post office can be reached quickly and easily. |
Luggage transport with electric vehicle |
Saas-Fee is car-free. When possible we offer our house guests luggage transport by electric vehicle on arrival and departure (guaranteed on Saturday, rest of the week on request). |
Payment |
The final payment in cash can be made on Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm at the Bumann family's office on the 3rd floor. Please note that we do not accept credit & debit cards. You can choose to pay the bill in Swiss francs or in euros (at the daily exchange rate). Payment of the bill via TWINT is also possible. Upon request, the landlord can provide you with an invoice in advance. |
Pets |
Please note that pets are not allowed in the apartments. |
Radio & TV |
All holiday apartments are equipped with a flat screen TV with cable connection. We receive numerous radio & TV programmes from all over the world in various languages. |
Recycling station |
On the ground floor you can dispose of recyclable materials (glass/paper/PET bottles/cans) in the boxes provided. All other materials go into the rubbish. At the end of your stay, you can dispose of your rubbish (in the specific orange sack) at the waste disposal centre on the upper main street (opposite the bakery Imseng). Additional orange refuse sacks can be obtained from the landlord. |
SaastalCard |
With the SaastalCard you benefit from various advantages during your stay. In summer, our guests can use all mountain cable cars (with the exception of Metro-Alpin) and post buses in the entire Saas Valley free of charge when they present their Saastal card. There are also various offers in winter. A list of the benefits of your personal SaastalCard can be found in the apartment when you arrive. After successful online check-in you will receive an email from us a few days prior to your arrival with an invitation to install the Saas-Fee/Saas Valley Guide and your personal Saas Valley Cards on your mobile phone via download. |
Ski room |
A ski room with modern ski boot warmers is located at the lower entrance of the house. |
Support |
The landlord lives in the same house and looks after you personally. The easiest way to reach him is by mobile phone +41 79 630 45 85. |
Telephone |
A telephone is available in every apartment. External telephone calls in Switzerland and throughout Europe are free. Please note that it is not possible to call directly to your apartment (no direct dialing to the apartment). |
Video library |
At the upper house entrance above the letterboxes there is a video library with over 200 blu-ray films for young and old. There is a blu-ray player in every apartment, which can be used to watch the films. |
Washing machine |
There is no washing machine in the apartments. We recommend our guests bring enough personal laundry with them on holiday. If you unexpectedly have to wash something you can arrange for it to be done by the landlord for a fee. For drying small individual laundry items there is a clotheshorse in each apartment. |
Wifi internet access |
Thanks to a high-performance broadband fibre-optic network and new modern antennas on all floors, our house guests benefit from excellent Wifi reception in all apartments. |
